Everytime i scan i get this? I have my firewall set so it will accept nmap i just cant get any results when i scan with nmap, but if i use the same IP in SuperScan 4 it works and i get results, can anyone help?
Quote:
nmap V. 3.75 ( www.insecure.org/nmap )
Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probes, try -P0
Nmap run completed -- 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 53 seconds

I am running Windows XP SP1

hi,
Just put off the firewall and then see whether nmap works or not. I think your firewall is blocking syn packets. (syn packets in limited number of time). Yes, it would be better to post the syntax which you used for nmap scanning.

Thanks

With "Syntax", I think ryansutton mean the command you used to start nmap with (but correct me if I'm wrong). That is, give us the entire output of the command..

Have a read of technetium's tutorial it explains a lot about nmap scanning options.
BTW tell it not to ping the host before scanning or it will assume it's down.

-sS -PT -PI -O -T 3 192.168.0.1
This is a syntax, and it is the command i use to start nmap (ofcourse with the properties i want).
Dissable your firewall and then try again to run nmap to see what you get.
And post the syntax too....Smile
