Well if your hosting abc.com anyway, you will have an local DNS (I gather you are using Active Directory?).

Will be in start programs, administrative tools on the server, or if you have installed adminpak.msi on the workstations.

Active Directory??

Red Hat 8.0

Less of the sarcasm

You didnt say it was linux (for the domain management)

Yes he did hence the title "Setting up redhat 8.0 as a nameserver".

Ol Man I was refering to the server that manages his domain.

Not the server he is attempting to build as a nameserver.

sorry, i'm just getting frustrated with all of and plus I have to attempt to convert my asp files to PHP which I don't know too well.

I'll try and find out what our DNS servers at work are built and and how they are configured.

Well your post is worded wrong you say the word "YOU" not "THEY".

EDIT: You also say "Will be in start programs, administrative tools on the server, or if you have installed adminpak.msi on the workstations." How can he change the "server that manages his domain"??

Yes "you" being myhatisred as I was speaking to him.

Can't quite see why i'd have to use THEY.

Case closed please and suggestions for a nameserver as we are far from helping myhatisred here Sad

But you are talking about something out of his control, And would be in the control of the registars admin hence the word "THEY".

I have a CNA but it's not helping me any right now. If you could ask him that would be great.

I am talking about the internal domain that is running on the LAN.

The server I was talking about was the Domain Controller.
