I seem to be having difficulties on my Snort management server (BASE 1.2.2).

when running the query for the top 5 frequent alerts from the web interface, I get the message:

Database ERROR:Database ERROR:Error writing file '/tmp/MYxxxxxx' (Errcode: 28 ) where xxxxxx is almost any string

Through a little digging, I've come to the conclusion that most people seem to agree that errcode: 28 means there is insufficient disk space.

My /tmp/ is ~1gb, ~940mb free with 777 permissions.

one thing to take note of is that my acid_event.MYI is rather large (942306304). Just thinking up possibilities here, but I wouldn't imagine it would copy the entire thing to the /tmp/ to run this, would it?

any suggestions as to a resolution?

For those intersted, after cutting the database down to 1/10 the size, the problem was resolved.
