Hey there, newbie here Smile

I did a quick serach and couldn't find anything on this.....sorry if it has been brought up before.

I am looking for a PDF software for a small business (2 people) that doesn't want or need to spend the big $$$$$$ on Adobe. I found there are tons on the Internet, so I logically want to know the ones that are the most legitimate for the least price.

I downloaded the Docudesk product which seems great, but before I buy it, what's the best bang for the buck as far as PDF generators go?

Thanks,
Ian

PS......wasn't Vista supposed to have a PDF generator built in??????

Give CutePDF a try. Its free, lightweight, and can create PDF documents for you. All you need to do is select the print button (out of Word for example), and choose the CutePDF as the printer to output it to PDF format.

Similarly I use FreePDF for XP with great success.

In both this case and with CutePDF this creates static PDF files of documents. If you are looking for PDF forms, security settings etc, try Foxit Software

Also have a read of my ramblings about PDF as a versatile format:

Open Office is a fully functional FREE office-like product. It lets you create and modify PDF's. Only thing its missing is the Outlook.. which you can get with Evolution.. another freebie. I use both daily for my business and for my customers

PDFCreator is a nice one that can be made server based in some cases.

we use a lot of CAD files and issuing them as PDF has proven tricky due to lineweights and scale issues going all over the place. the only one we've found that works 100% is PDF995 - but it is full of adverts in the free version.
