I'm sure there are other threads about this... but I have a specific need.
I have been using Zonealarm, but it has been using more resources and been bugging me every time I want to do anything with the Internet (apparently the "don't ask me this again" button doesn't work), and I have heard there are better firewalls out there (Comodo, Kerio, etc) and I am wondering if anyone can suggest a low resource, safe, firewall, that is not Windows Firewall.
I don't feel that I need a really awesome one, just one that is the best for the (free) price. I have NOD32 which takes care of most everything, and I have a router firewall...
I have never used Comodo before but am also in search of a free Windows-based firewall. Currently the only form of protection on my PC is Avast's free virus scanner.
Would installing the free version of Comodo and leaving Avast installed be redundant, since it looks like they both include virus/malware scanning? If I install Comodo, would you recommend leaving a separate, dedicated antivirus in place?
Although there might be layers that overlap with Antivirus and the Firewall, the two serve distinct functions. I would recommend you run both an Antivirus AND Firewall.
