As I've just ordered some new IT books I'm curios as to what everyone else keeps on their IT bookshelf whether it be at home or in the office.

As ever, I'll lead off:

Work
DNS+BIND
DNS on Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2003 Pocket Handbook
Exchange 2003 Pocket Handbook
Group Policy, Profiles + IntelliMirror (2nd Edition)
Nagios: System and Network Monitoring (2nd Edition) -- just bought this one today actually
Tons of user manuals!

Home
Too many to name individuals but mostly cover:
Exchange 2000, 2003 and 2007
TCP/IP architecture
Windows Server 2000 / 2003
and a bunch of MS study books

so what have you got and what would you really recommend?

My recommendations would be "Group Policy, Profiles + IntelliMirror" (which our very own AdamV has a mention in Wink) and the Nagios book.

My desk at work is empty apart from that great big Dell paperweight they gave me. These are always at hand:

Cryptanalysis - Helen Fouche Gaines (Excellent book on the practicalities of ciphers throughout the ages)
Understanding PKI: Concepts, Standards, and Deployment Considerations
Security Engineering: A Guide to Building Dependable Distributed Systems (A must for anyone interested in security)
Official (Isc)2 Guide to the Cissp Exam (Sigh, I will do the exam someday!)

Plus a few hundred others on Windows, Programming, Unix, Networking. Thats just the IT ones. I tend not to buy so many IT books these days although Amazon loves it when I go on holiday, thats another 10 books thanks.

I would recommend ISO 27001 ( ISMS) & ISO 20000 ( ITIL ) standards, part I and Part II documents a must for referrence.

We often neglect the IT process .
