Hiya,

Just having a conversation with a colleague about IT Job Titles. What would someone who does the following be titled:

Design, install and maintain network cabling
Design, install, configure and maintain network infrastructure devices, including wireless
Design, install, configure and maintain servers; including ISA Firewall Arrays, Active Directory domains, DHCP, DNS, DFS, IIS, Exchange, SQL, WSUS, SystemCenter, etc etc
Web development, including applications using Active Directory and SQL back-ends (reading from and writing to)
On-going development, such as planning, designing and implementing projects (one this year will be Hyper-V)
    Budget planning
    Day-to-day maintenance of user problems

Answers on a post card.

Thanks

Hilarious!

Seriously, when I said colleage, it was actually my boss. I stated in my appriasal the current title was an under-valuation and he asked me to find something better, which i'm, funnily enough, struggling to do!

If you are in charge of those things, then "head of" or "chief"

Cables and network devices and domains all come under "infrastructure"

And you design this stuff and oversee it being built, making sure it is right and gets maintained - "developer" or "architect"

So:
Chief Infrastructure Architect?

(which would also mean you can put "CIA" on your business cards)
