im running Ubuntu 9 and I've installed snort, apache, acidbase and mysql to learn more about monitoring a network. apache and mysql are running fine, but when I run the commad

Code:
sudo snort

I get the following fatal error after many many lines of code

Code:
ERROR: /etc/snort.conf(436) => Unable to open the IIS Unicode Map file '/etc/unicode.map'.
Fatal Error, Quitting..

I've searched all over the Internet but cant seem to find an answer. I'm assuming the unicoe.map file is missing, but aren't there many types?

Anyone have any ideas?

As far as I remember, http_inspect preprocessor uses unicode.map.
So unicode.map and snort.conf should be in the same directory, or you ought to write the full path for unicode.map in a config file.

Thanks for the reply, but I knocked the power chord out during an update. I have to reinstall and start over.

I'm sure I will run into the same set of problems though, lol.
