We use MetaFrame Presentation Server for remote access and have citrix groups created for use with active directory on the domain controller (Windows 2003 Server).

I need to know what the best way is to restrict user access to a specific folder that is a subdirectory of one of the shares they can get to.

I had read before that the containing folder had to have enough permissions to let them into it, but I wasn't sure about restricting access to that particular location and prohibiting everything else.

Thanks in advance.

C.

If a user needs to access the parent folder but have denied access to a child folder; the permissions for the user/group on the parent folder need to be whatever you need. On the child folder, set the permissions for that user/group to Deny.

Most likely, the parent permissions are inherited by the child folder. Go to the Security Tab and click Advanced. Then Deselect the checkbox that says "Inherit from parent the permission....". It will ask to Copy or Remove; click Copy.

If you want to get granular and have the user/group only list the items in the folder, then go to Advanced and Select "List Folder / Read Data". From there you can set special privileges on the other files and folders in that directory.
