WebGoat - "Blame it on the Goat!"

Quote:
Web application security is difficult to learn and practice. Very few of us have full blown web applications that we can search for vulnerabilities. In addition, security professionals frequently need to test tools against a known vulnerable platform to ensure they perform as advertised. And all of this needs to happen in a safe and legal environment. Remember, you should never attempt to find vulnerabilities without permission, even if your intentions are good.

The WebGoat project was created to help everyone learn about web application security problems in a safe and legal environment. This project has created an application that will serve as;

* An Interactive Learning Environment for Web Application Security
* A Testing Platform & Benchmark for Security Tools

Why the name WebGoat? Developers should not feel bad about not knowing security -- even the best programmers make security errors. What they need is a scapegoat -- get it? Just blame it on the Goat!

Installation

WebGoat Version 2.0 now comes with full installers that take most of the pain out of the installation process. The Installers are self executing JAR files that will auto magically install the Apache Tomcat Java application server for you if you don't already have it and set up the application.

User Guide

WebGoat Version 2.0 now comes with a user guide.
