I have read various things that state that the RIAA is not using any suspicious means of finding their infringers. They simply search Kazaa or another program for copyrighted files, and find people who share a lot of them. Then, they download a file and record that they did so, to make sure it is a real file. After confirmation, the subpoena is issued to ISP's

i heard a whisper but i'm not a lawyer that for the case to work it must be downloaded by them from you that's infringement of copyright, you downloading from someone else is not breach of copyright
*i think*
but this legal advice is worth what you paid for it i.e nothing

Yesterdays AP release stated that they searched the big p2p file networks for users with 1000+ songs in their available library to d/l, they then went after those people. At the current time they stated they had no intention of going after those d/l'ing the files, just those sharing alot of them.

I don't know about Kazaa because I've never used it but doesn't bearshare broadcast your ip to everyone that you connect to? Doesn't seem like it would even be a challenge to track these people down...

Well they are definatly on the right track..by slowly eliminating the major sharers and forcing others to continue to d/l but not share any files they are successfully tearing apart the way p2p networks work....sharing

EDIT
If they are downloading a few files from ur computer before sueing you....wouldnt it help to not allow common RIAA ips to connect to you?
