|
|
**The PDA version of the site is currently offline**
We are currently testing a mobile version of site optimised for mobile devices. It is currently only showing a select amount of forums rather than all of them: - News/ Guidelines / Info
- Windows
- Linux
- Internet News / Connectivity
- Cryptography Theory
- Firewalls / IDS
- System weaknesses
For those with direct wireless or similar access simply point your browser to http://www.security-forums.com/pda/
We are also testing with avantgo for offline // synchronised viewing of the forums. If you are interesting in experimenting with this visit http://www.avantgo.com and create an account if you don't have one already and download the relevant software to install the avantgo browser on your PDA.
Then create a custom channel
The location should be http://www.security-forums.com/pda/ the maximum channel size and link depth are entirely up to your own preference. The increased link depth and size will synchronise more data.
I choose to include security forums images which are restricted as the site is greatly reduced to increases speeds on palm devices, and also to not follow off site links. As lots of posts do contain links to other sites it could end up spidering a lot of data
Then perform a sync using whatever method and Security Forums will appear as a channel on your device
This is still in very beta form and development will depend on how much interest and usage there is. If you have any problems // queries // ideas please let us know

I'm gonna try out AventGo on my Handspring Visor. I already have DataVizMail integrated with Outlook, and MobiPocket giving me Fox News and such. Now to be able to browse the forum messages from anywhere...

Well, I got it set up for my Handspring Visor Deluxe. Only problem is: when I sync, I keep getting a Server Overloaded - Please try again later error. Rather annoying, that is.

Ok, I reset the Security-Forums cache from 1 MB to 400k and tried again. No go, same Server overload error.
Then I went to:
AvantGo Software
Advanced Controls
and clicked on the <clear> buttons next to:
Clear channel cache
Clear cookies
and that seemed to do the trick. It's really cool being able to read SFDC on my PDA! Next time I sync ... this message is going to appear on it as well ... and I just want to see what looks like in 4 shade grayscale.
Love seeing the SFDC logo on my PDA!!!
PS - I'd kind of like to see Misc. Computer Forum and Hardware offered up too. Oh heck, I'd actually like to see all of them offered... but then the sync would take forever to complete.

Tried it on my Toshiba e-740, going through a home WAP to DSL.
Performance was fine. Layout was fine--after I remembered to select "fit to screen".
Nothing wrong with the formatting. Works fine.

My phone won't display it. It says "Not acceptable"
I copied & pasted the url into my online setup for the address... Still it won't work. I can see other websites such as amazon.com's mobile site and mapquest's mobile site... hrm
I shall figure it out...
