I'd go for FreeBSD.

OpenBSD CD's you have to buy Sad. But just download the Floppy images and install over then internet.

BTW, Slackware is on one CD. Is that the OS only?

Yeah Slackware is only 1 CD Cool

Also I would say install both on a box at home and see what you like...
