How do I make the battery life of my laptop longer? When I use my laptop I always plug it in directly to a power source on the wall. Is this okay? Do I have to use a voltage regulator or ups always?
Thanks,

Keeping them plugged in all the time does not have the same bad effect that it did in other battery types. Of course, batteries will always lose their potential over time.
Simple things like keeping your screen's brightness down, turning down the maximum potential for your CPU's processing power, turning off all wireless transceivers (WiFi, bluetooth and cellular) and not keeping a CD-ROM in the drive can go a long way towards keeping your battery alive longer.

Of course you can directly use your power cable to your laptop. it wiil be fine there is no risk at all. You don't even need to use UPC and all that.
And for the long life of the battery please use battery option.
Use Power Saver or Balanced option.
