Hallo,

I'm searching for a tool, which offers me the possibility to estimate the time I need to decrypt a chossen key.

The tool should offer the possibility to submit different parameters, like:
- key length and maybe also the algorithm
- max password length
- character set (like upper case, lower case, numeric, special character)
- available CPU performance (like clock frequency or number of cores etc.)

A graphical user interface would preferable but not necessary.

best regards

No such tool. TBH you are talking of ages of the universe when guessing a key for some algorithms.

You might want to look up encryption on Wikipedia as well.

Quote:

You don't decrypt a key, you decrypt the cipher text using a key.

Quote:
max password length
Passwords having nothing to do with the encryption process. They can be used to secure the key because humans are bad at remembering things like keys so the key is secured using a passphrase.

I think you are talking about two different things here.

1 - Brute forcing a key
2 - Brute forcing a password/passphrase which is protecting a key
