  1. Set up your computer to display the screen that you want to capture. For example, if you want to take a picture of your Web site, open your home page in the browser that you normally use.
  2. Press the Print Screen button on your keyboard. This captures a "snapshot" on the Clipboard.
  3. Open a graphics program, such as MS Paint.
  4. Open a new file.
  5. Paste the contents of the Clipboard into your document (Ctrl+V).
  6. Your file now contains an image of the screen that you captured. Name your file and save it in the graphics format of your choice.

You can capture just the active window (useful if you have a multiple monitor setup) by pressing Atl+PrintScreen. It will stay on your clipboard as the previous poster mentioned. Just paste in where you want it.

If you're going to email the screenshot, most major email clients (Thunderbird, TrulyMail, etc.) allow you to simply 'paste' an image from your clipboard into the body of a message. In this case, there is no need to use another application to save the image before sending it.

This is a very useful post. Having to print the current screen is very useful especially if you have a blog where you want to explain what is on your computer screen.
