heh it's time to compare the size of your work units gents!

Might stress test the new dual p4 2.8ghz pdc when no ones looking.

My 4hr wu was on a 1 cpu 2ghz so I should more than halve that.

ehmz you will do 2 wu in 4 hours because each wu takes 4 hour on each cpu .
4 hours for a Pentium IV 2 Ghz is terribly slow , my old athlon 2000+
Athlon 2000+ @ 1927 MHZ , 256 MB Ram (PC2700) 2:57.24

Guess I'll get on here. Got a 1.4GHz FreeBSD machine just sitting around doing nothing. I suppose I can run it 24x7. Smile

A better link is (updated more frequently):

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/fcgi-bin/fcgi?cmd=team_lookup&name=Security%2Dforums%2Ecom

I've joined with 2752 WU for the team...I used to do 10 WU per day between my three machines, but now it's down to 4-5 WU a day, due to SETI clashing with Soulseek.

I hope everyone is using the command-line version, it's much more efficient. If anyone needs any information on setting it up with SetiSpy, SetiDriver, or as a service under 2K/XP, let me know.

Pardon me for soundling like an idiot (usual thing round here anyway!) but is the command line version more effienct than the GUI version if it's left running in the system tray and the interface is ignored?

Cheers

Yes. It's far more efficient. Even if you don't open the GUI display up.

this may sound like a dumb question but if I'm halfway through processing a set of info and switch from the gui version to the cmd-line will it dump what I've sone so far and start over with another set?

http://www.setiatwork.com/ is also good for individual user stats and stuff. I don't know if anyone wants to hookup security-forums with an ID for it..

Heh I always thought SETI stood for Speed and Endurance Testing Interface; a benchmarking program. I didn't know it could search for aliens?!? Wink

Seriously, I've always thought, as slightly as the chances may be, every little bit of CPU power helps.

Even if, in the end, it doesn't find any aliens at all, it's still giving the scientists some interesting insight, I guess.

i agree ....in the end ..who knows what's out there . If you don't search you will not find . Better search and not find then not searching and not finding anything .

owyeah ..and hugo ..the money is coming asap ...had to pay the tax bill for this period...so i need some time to regroup my financial state Smile
