I'm using windows XP and I have an NTL broadband connection which is on all the time.

I recently installed AVG resident shield, which picked up that I had a couple of viruses, including the one above, which I had picked up from file sharing.

So... I ran the anti virus programme and now it says I haave no viruses, BUT it can't access a number of files mainly in te C/documents and settings file, and also the c/windows/system32/configuration.

I keep getting a pop up that says the worm is still in c/systemvolumeinformation/restore.... file, I am unable to open this file even though I have admin rights, access is denied.

I can't find a way to get rid of the virus cos I can't find it! I would be really grateful if anyone can suggest what to try next!

Disable system restore, scan you're system.

Then re-enable system restore once you know its clean.

Kindal is an old worm, it disables file protection on windows btw.
