Hi I am new to the mac world, I have an Ibook with the panther OS. I am trying to get my ibook to see my xp machine, I have no problem connecting to my win2k from the mac. I can map from my win2k to xp fine, but not having any luck from the mac. All the pc are under the same workgroup, the mac see both pc under the server option, but cannot connect the xp machine. I get an error message like " cannot connect to from alias, orignal source not found.

Have you set your shares to open permissions on the XP machine? What revision of the O/S are you onto now (version update #)?

I've had this issue before at home, mostly after I did XP's SP2 update.

Well, that should allow for it to communicate, but it can still be problematic. Going the OTHER direction is easy. In the System Prefs, under sharing is an option for "Windows Sharing" and it even gives you the path that you can dump into the RUN command to open the share on the Mac. I figured this out last night by accident. Very Happy
