No spare NIC's anywhere?

It supports USB ADSL modems, not sure about yours.

If there is a Linux driver for it then yeh it will, you'll have to look into it.

OK I have just installed IPCOP, and it asked for a reboot.

On reboot its asking me for an IPCOP login, and requires a username and password.

I have looked on the site and have no idea what its talking about. If I type root as the username it takes me to a root prompt.

Any ideas?

Well if you want to login, login, if you don't don't Wink

Once you've rebooted after the install, it's done, it's setup that's it.

Go to http://ipaddress:81 to admin it.

NIC and cable confirmed working?

Login as root and type ifconfig see what comes up.

Try and ping out from IPCop too.

Yeh NIC and cable confirmed working as they worked in the win2k server environment before I nuked it last nite.

I haven't got in internet connection plugged into it yet as I need an additional network card that I am yet to buy. Im guessing this shouldnt matter, you should still be able to ping it through the local area connection.

OK I have the IPCop System seeing the network now.

I have plugged in the NTL BB cable into a 2nd network card and cofigured it for a RED type.

The other network card which accesses my LAN is configured for the GREEN type.

Now setting up addressing for NTL, does it use a standard DHCP setting, do you have to put in your current IP and does anyone know the subnet mask they use?

There is options for PPPOE and PPTP aswell as normal DHCP.

OK found a doc if anyone is interested in configuring this with NTL:

Have registered the MAC address, just doin the rest now:

How do I get IPCop working with ntl:home (UK) cable...

with a Pace ntl:home digital TV set top box?
You need to install IPCop with at least two network cards for GREEN and RED, ORANGE is optional. Configure the RED network card to use DHCP. Configure the GREEN network card as usual. You must make sure that your workstations can browse the IPCop web interface and that they are using the IPCop for their default gateway and DNS.

You will need to register the MAC address of the RED network card with NTL. This does not need to be done if the RED network card has previously been registered under Windows or another OS.

Switch the cable set top box (STB) and your IPCop off.

Switch the STB on again.

Switch your IPCop machine on when the data light on the STB lights up.

Your IPCop should grab a private IP address from the cable head. You should then be able to access the computer provisioning pages using a browser on one of your client machines.

Open a java enabled web browser and navigate to http://start.ntl

Follow the instruction on the screen to register a new computer. You will need your PID and password.

Remember that you will actually be registering the MAC address of the red NIC in the IPCop machine. Once the IPCop computer is registered you should switch the STB off then on again and reboot the IPCop machine when the data light comes on. The red NIC should now get a public IP address assigned by DHCP from NTL and you can start browsing, etc.
