Screen resolution can be tricky. Try to make your site so it is useable from all resolutions, but make it look best in the resolution you expect your target audience to use. Since you will ecpect technically savvy people, I would think that many of them would use higher resolutions.

Hope that helps.

I just checked on one of my sites with about 2000 hts per month. In the past 12 months 57% used 1024x768. There's no real graphics on my site, it just q&a text. I can't use that res. due to my own vision problems for reading. For reading text or code I have to use 800X600 or lower.

Many people print them out because detailed text/code doesn't read well on a monitor. Ever try reading 10 pages of code at the res your thinking of on a monitor?

It's all up to your target audience, what you think will work best and a willingness to change it if your wrong.

That's right, but I have never worried about that before,I have web site,it does not have to much stuff, but if you see it in a different resolution, what's happens is that you have to scrooll the page to see the other part of the page, but everything still the same.

When I am working on a site that needs to be really accessible, we try to code for the "Stone age user". Someone using Netscape 3 on a 14.4 modem with 800X600 resolution. You have to try to strike a good balance of making your page useable to this user, but still a pleasant experience for your much larger demographic.

Yes, and ToddK's comments on keeping your site to the lowest common denominator are best if you want the largest audience to think the site is quick, readable and works with most browsers including a few older versions. (not just the current version or IE only).

Yes I'm totally agree with that,I have a question. If you use java script, could be this the reason the buttons get over each other when you see it in a lower resolution?
The guy that asked me to make the web page told me not to worry about how heavy is the web page becuase those who visits the web page have dsl etc,I do what the customer wants. Twisted Evil any way I always keep the web page lower.

Thanks.

Not quite what you mean by that.. Do you mean java roll over buttons?

It's always best to make a web page that is 800x600 and viewable in 1074x768. The best way to do this is to have a table with all contents within a table, which is 100% height and width.

It is always best practice to keep the web site size small as it keeps all users in mind.
