Hello honey-bee,
Before we start, you need to realize that you are missing one important program on that computer: An antivirus.
This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world.
You need to install an antivirus program as soon as you can and run a complete scan of the computer.
I recommend you download the free
AntiVir or
AVG antivirus or
Avast
Never install more than one antivirus scanner or firewall on your system! Several together can give you problems and decrease the reliability of it seriously!

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune DO NOT run it yet.
Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 (formerly Ewido)
This is a 30 day trial of the program
AVG Anti-Spyware is designed to be used to both scan for and remove malicious files and also to run in real-time alongside, but not replace, your existing anti-virus program to give an added layer of protection.
Both the Resident Shield and Automatic Updates will only be available for the thirty day trial period, after that AVG Anti-Spyware will revert to a stand-alone scanner which you can keep and manually update for free and use in a similar way to Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spybot S&D etc.
1. After download, double click on the file to launch the install process.
2. Choose a language, click "OK" and then click "Next".
3. Read the "License Agreement" and click "I Agree".
4. Accept the default installation path: C:\Program Files\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and click "Next", then click "Install".
5. After setup completes, click "Finish" to start the program automatically or launch ewido by double-clicking its icon on your desktop or in the system tray.
6. The main "Status" menu will appear. You can select "Change state" to inactivate 'Resident Sheild' and 'Automatic Updates'. If you choose to do this, then right click on ewdio in the system tray and uncheck "Start with Windows".
7. Select the "Update" button and click "Start update". If you are having problems with the updater, manually update with the Ewido Full database installer from here.
8. Exit AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 when done - DO NOT perform a scan yet.
Reboot your computer in "SAFE MODE" using the F8 method so Windows will start with minimal drivers and running processes.
To do this restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup [but before the Windows icon appears] press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".
1.) Double-click the small BLUE Garbage Can ATF-Cleaner.exe file to run the program.
2.) At the top, under Main choose: Select All
3.) Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use the Firefox browser:
1.) At the top, click Firefox and choose: Select All
2.) Click the Empty Selected button.

Hi honey-bee,

do I have to get an antivirus?
Yes, for the safety of your computer and the files on it, you have to have a active anti-virus program running at all times.
There is no way around it.
All it takes a few seconds to get infected by a nasty virus. Some of the viruses are very nasty can infect all files on your computer and make it unoperatable.

I mean I already have spyware, adware and a-squared so if I get an antivirus it will make my pc really slow?
The only antivirus that will slow your computer is Norton Antivirus.
All the other antivirus programs have very little effect on speed of the computer.
You probably have spybot 1.4, Adaware SE and A-squared on your computer. Spybot and Adaware are for spyware and adware and a-squared is mainly for trojans.
All are very good, but none of them will protect you from viruses, so that is the reason you need them all (an antivirus program, and spyware remover program(s) and a trojan dectector).
And you must keep them all updated and run them at least once a week to do you any good.

No, dont delete them. You need Adaware SE, Spybot 1.4 and A-squared on your computer. I have them all on mine, plus an antivirus program.
So chose one of the free anti-virus programs, update it and run it.

Hi Honey-bee,
Quote:
I see alot of backdoors and everytime I delete them they get back again when I restart!
What program is seeing backdoors? Where are they? Do you have a log you can post?
Quote:
I have alot of programs now
AVG 7.5
AVG Anti-Spyware 5.7
XoftSpySE
CCleaner
ATF-Cleaner
Ad-aware
Spybot
and I see 2 of Hijack this in my programs, it seems I have downloaded it twice and it gets back when I restart
so tell me which one of them I should delete |
You can uninstall AVG Anti-Spyware and Spybot. Either uninstall or delete AFT Cleaner (CCleaner will the same thing, clean temp files).
Keep AVG 7.5 (your antivirus program ), XoftSpySE (anti spyware), and Adaware SE, and CCleaner.
In Normal Mode, select the following with HijackThis.
With all windows (including this one!) closed (close browser/explorer windows), please select "fix.”
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
Run CCleaner.
Finally, reboot to the Normal Mode , post a new Hijackthis log, and tell me how your computer is running.

Hey Mike
there is no backdoors anymore after I downloaded XoftSpySE it deleted them!! the name of the backdoor was (prorat) I can only see tracking cookies now I don't think they are dangrous, are they?
I uninstalled the programs you told me but I don't see AFT Cleaner listed with the remove/add programs so I still have it, can I keep it and remove CCleaner? and which do you think is better AFT Cleaner or CCleaner?

Nope, they are not dangerous.

AFT Cleaner does basicly the same thing as CCleaner (clean temp files).
It is a personal choice. Try them both and decide which one you like better. My personal choice is CCleaner, but I am a techie. You may prefer AFT Cleaner.
If you decide to get rid of AFT Cleaner then just delete it.

Just reboot your computer after you do the fixes and it will automatically go into the Normal Mode.
