Adobe Photoshop is by far the best photo imaging program you can possibly use, but is more robust and can be quite a learning curve for most people. PSP is another great program, and is pretty close to Adobe Photoshop in quality... it's just a lot easier to use & learn than Photoshop. Either route you go, they're both great programs for image editing.

Another extremely nice program (particularly if you're not creating for print) is Gimp :
http://www.gimp.org/ (linux>
http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/ (windows)
I've never used the win version of it, so I dunno how stable it is. But it's worth checking out.

I use PS8 but PS7 is just as good. I also use quite a few filters to make it a little easier. Just take your time, look for tutorials on the web and most importantly have fun. That's the point

I would have to say that Adobe Photoshop 7.0 or 3ds Max 5 and on are the best for creating graphics. Also I wonder if for my rendition I should make it 1024x768 or 1280x1024. I guess I will just do both.

I guess this is typical of me, esp. for those who know me will find this typical of my abrasive nature. I like it though, so there.
