Hello. I have worked in the field for roughly 3 years. I am currently working on my masters degree in Computer Science. I am also planning on taking my CCNA by the end of August and my SSCP by the end of December. I would like to learn more about Database Security and Firewalls. I am taking a Database class in the fall but I am not sure if that will talk much about security.
Also, there are usually no firewall classes. How do I learn more about firewalls?

The CCNA Security covers that pretty well, if you aim to pass that exam the material takes you through a lot of firewall technology and security principles/best practice with a focus on the Cisco PIX/ASA appliances. You could also go for the more advanced CCSP if you want to have some nice firewall/security certifications on your resume.
Outside of certifications you can build your own Firewall using most any Linux distribution and play with the rules. Having a lab for your studies is crucial, IMHO.

+1 since cisco deals with alot of hardware(duh), as stated above the CCNA covers ALOT about firewalls and technology. Since i self studied for it, i hit up borders and bought the CCNA Library, i'd recommend it to anyone. Doesn't hurt to have equipment to test and simulate on, but the discs and video's have simulations for you computer so you can run through configurations etc. Database's? Databases is fairly broad, when alot of people say it i think MySQL/MsSQL/Postgre etc. SQL databases, best way to learn them is to learn how to use them, manage them, mostly through practice and there's lots of resources on the web, i could recommend a few books, and i have alot of ebooks i would be free to share if you hit me up with a PM.

Sure, sorry didn't notice i really stated that and then, didn't recommend anything. As far as security the Database Hackers Handbook is a VERY good guide on securing networks and testing them from a "hackers" perspective, and there's another book i used as a resource for an article in school last year called SQL Database ManageMent and Implementation(i believe maybe not spot on with title, i'll double check and edit), that was really handy and also included security issue's. I have a copy of the Database Hackers Handbook in PDF if anyones interested (apologies to anyone whose hardcore against sharing copyrighted material).
