First off you all have a great forum, I love all the issues being addressed. It has been a ton of help over the years.

Setup:
Second, I have been tasked with finding a cost effective solution for waking up employees computers at work from their home.

We are currently using remote desktop connection with a RD (aka TS) gateway server to connect employees directly from home to work over the internet.

Problem:
Employees cannot connect from home to their work computer if it is in sleep mode.

Question:
How can we wake the work computers from an offsite location using remote desktop connection?
Shocked

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Krugger.

Unfortunately the wiki article offered no assistance on how to proceed with using remote desktop connection to wake a computer from sleep.

I have looked into this subject also.

One obvious suggestion is having them modify their Windows power settings to keep the computer constantly running? Not very efficient, but effective.

The wake on LAN subject has been tricky for me, I test the scenario a couple times but with little success.

I believe that some third party remote desktop applications have specifically implemented the wake on LAN feature, then again I don't know if that is an option for you.

Thanks digidojo for the post.

Yes I do agree adjusting the computer power settings is obvious solution and we want to keep our computers in a sleep state for cost reasons and reducing our carbon foot print.

Its nice to know someone out is also tackling the WOL or WOW (wake-on-wan). I too have had mixed success.

We are hoping to avoid using a 3rd party software due to cost, security concerns, and user education.
